Skin-to-Skin for Breastfeeding Win

In honor of International Kangaroo Care Awareness Day, join Marie and special internationally recognized expert Dr. Nils Bergman as they discuss the benefits of kangaroo care, skin-to-skin contact that allows breastfeeding and bonding to begin moments after birth. According to Dr. Nils Bergman (www.ninobirth.org) and others, kangaroo care should be the standard method of care for all newborns–healthy, full-term babies as well as those born prematurely–and infants in the moments after birth and throughout the first months. Listen as Marie and Dr. Bergman discuss the scientific basis for skin-to-skin care (SSC), including the neuroscience of the optimal birth and the basis for supporting the baby-mother dyad in getting off to the best possible start not only in breastfeeding but in their relationship.
